To publish photos online

In this society we live in today, with Facebook, and blogs. Are there many pictures that are published. Do we think about the images we publish, whom we post pictures of?

Today there are many blogs that deal with; mommy blogs, fashion blogs, interior design blogs, health blogs, food blogs, cake blogs and so on. Photos are published almost every day. It is important to have asked for permission to publish images before you publish online. This also applies if we are to publish other children. It is important that you ask the parents of the children before they publish.

But what about parents who publish pictures of their own children at randomtorture, whether it's bragging pictures or it is fun photos of their children who have fallen asleep in a strange way, crying because the ice fell on the floor and so on. have not these children the right to protect themselves from online imagesChildren also have personal integrity to be taken into account. Want your kids to see pictures of themselves on the Internet in 10 years? If the children that the images should be searchable on the Internet when they become adults? Would we posted pictures of adults in the same situations as those we want to put out of the children? These are important questions that should be considered before you publish pictures of children and young people - even if there are images of one's own children.

Private, there are few rules, but fortunately there are good rules to publishpictures of children in schools and kindergartens. It must be approved byparents, but they are not allowed to publish photos of the children where theycan identisere which children it is also on.

So how excited are you to find hundreds of pictures of you in 10 years, which you do not have published.

What do you post on Facebook?

Do you think before you share pictures and updates on Facebook?

I have already written about the timeline and how much time you spend on Facebook. I will continue to write about Facebook, because Facebook have come to stay.

This post is about the privacy. Do you really share everything with everyone? And again, are all your friends on Facebook, friends you want to share everything with? Are they good friends who will give you all the best whises, and not just hacking you.

Fortunately, Facebook has updated their terms regarding privacy since its inception in 2005. Now today - it is possible to decide who you want to share the information you post with. On this page you can read more about privacy on Facebook.

But even if you can restrict access, the information that Facebook shares with others have exploded. If you go here, and press the years, you will be able to see the evolution of the information sharing. You will see that it's scary how open your porfile is if you don´t close it. People should know about this so they would think more about what they post.

If I have been in charge, I would have limited the information that is shared.

But your friends are one thing, but what about the information you share, where does it go? Is it truly deleted when you hit the delete button? All of the information you share is saved by Facebook and what's scary is that it can be used for something else you don´t know about.

So do you think twice before you post anything on Facebook?

Timeline on Facebook

Last time, I wrote about "Do you spend to much time on Facebook?". This time will I look on the new feature on Facebook, the timeline

As other large sites on the internet, Facebook is always trying to improve their features and is in constant change. And the new feature on Facebook now is the timeline.

Almost everyone of my friends have already switched to timeline on their Facebook profile. What is timeline then?

Timeline is a fresh look at the profile and will help you to tell the hole story of you. From when you were born, started at school, when you started on Facebook and up to today.

All of your photos and posts will become easily available to browse for everybody. From the day you accept the timeline on your page, you will have seven days to preview the old photos and posts. In this period you can delete, add or hide any of the content you want before anoyne else sees it.

You can read about howe you get timeline here.

The reason I decided to write about the timeline, is because I think it´s important that everybody knows about it, what it shows and tell about you on Facebook. I will also mention the consequences it could give, positive and negative sides.

So, with the timeline you can now see everything you ever have posted on Facebook, all the way back from the day you started. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Some find it convenient to give his entire story to his friends. I think its a bad thing. Maybe not totally a bad thing, but I will remove mostly of the "old stuff". I started with Facebook in 2007 and have posted a lot of updates during that time. Through five years I find there is not a lot of the updates that is worth keeping. This because it is information that do not matter now.

By reading your posts on the timeline people get a lot of information about you as a person. That could happen if you are a applying for a job. You could be googled and your Facebook profile could then be looked up. I know you can lock your profile for people you don´t know, but if they know somebody who know me, then they can ask they to see.

If you use the Norwegian search service ”ask adam” and ask ”who am I”, they will search the internet for content where your name is mentioned. It´s spooky how much you can find out about other people, just google them. I think the Facebook timeline will help people you don´t know to find information about you.

Here you can see a video of the Facebook timeline:

Here you can read about timeline before you apply it to your profile. Once you have accepted it, you can´t change it back.

You should think about what your friends or enemies could read on you timeline. Are you willing to share everything with them?

Do you spend too much time on facebook?

That is the question that many should ask themselves. As for myself, I think I use too much time on Facebook.

What is Facebook? Facebook is a webpage where you can have contact with your friends, share pictures and chat with your friends. You follow your friends and see the stuff they publish. Some use Facebook like a daily diary while some doesn´t share anything at all. But in general I think most of the people read updates from friends on a daily basis and publish a staus message or a picture several times a week.

The birth to Facebook was in 2004, then just ment to be for the Harvard students. The creator Mark Zuckerberg and his friends reconized that this consepts was popular. After some time it was 6000 members, but as today it has grown to incredible 500 million members.

I remember I joined Facebook in 2007 and from that day I have regurlary visited the site almost every day.

Today we see a lot of publications about teenagers, and people in all ages, spending too much time on Facebook. A lot of people spend many hours every day on Facebook. We are scared to fall out of the group of friends, if we don`t use Facebook. That is at least what they/we belive, but I don`t think that`s absolutely correct.

For the first time girls top the list of which gender using the most time on Facebook. Boys have always been the gender who spends most time on technology and computer games. I think girls use Facebook in a different way than the guys. Girls chat and comment more pictures, sneak peek on other girls and boys. For the first time, girls are on the top of using some tecnologi.

"… many teenagers, especially girls, are recognizing the huge distraction Facebook presents — the hours it consumes every day, to say nothing of the toll it takes during finals and college applications, according to parents, teachers and the students themselves"
(New York Times, Do yoy spend to much time on Facebook?"

I think it`s time to get back our time, turn of the computer and telephone. Meet our friends over a cup of coffee and talk to them face to face, not on Facebook.

Here you can see a youtube-clip about what  Facebook can do with you, see and think about it:
